The FDA has authorized booster shots for tens of millions of people who previously received two Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna doses, including:
- Seniors ages 65 and older
- Adults ages 18+ who have underlying medical conditions that put them at increased risk of the virus
- Adults ages 18+ in long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes or assisted living
- People at increased risk of the virus due to their working or living situations -- including first responders, teachers and school employees, and grocery store workers. A full list of the occupations deemed at increased risk can be found here.
A booster dose may be administered at least 6 months after receiving your second shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.
The FDA also authorized booster shots for millions who previously received a dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, including:
- Adults ages 18+
A booster dose may be administered at least 2 months after receiving your shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
